These basic guidelines and questions are designed to assist you in starting a meeting of Sexual Compulsives Anonymous.<\/p>\n<p>You may <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/literature-and-resources\/store\/\">order<\/a> a &#8220;starter kit&#8221; that includes a booklet with this material plus:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 copies of SCA: A Program of Recovery (3rd edition)<\/li>\n<li>10 copies of the &#8220;Four-Fold&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>10 copies of For the Newcomer<\/li>\n<li>10 copies of Q&amp;A<\/li>\n<li>10 copies of a Sexual Recovery Plan template<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of these materials were compiled and produced by members of SCA.<\/p>\n<p>If you are interested in starting an SCA meeting in your area where there are no SCA meetings and would like to know if others nearby you are also interested, <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/iso\/register-with-iso\/\">complete a form<\/a> that will send an email to SCA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/iso\/\">International Service Organization<\/a>. The form will ask for your first name and last initial, your city or town, and an email address for others in your area to contact you. A volunteer will respond and will assist you in starting an SCA meeting in your area.<\/p>\n<h2>A Quick Guide to This Material<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/design-a-format\/\">Design a format<\/a> for the type of meeting you want and write it down, including a name for the meeting.<\/li>\n<li>Get any necessary <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/using-literature\/\">literature<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/find-a-location\/\">Find a location<\/a>, a day and a time.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/register-the-meeting\/\">Register<\/a> your location, day and time with the appropriate people.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/choose-trusted-servants\/\">Elect<\/a> a Chair, Treasurer, Literature Person and Intergroup Rep.<\/li>\n<li>Register the <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/register-the-meeting\/\">officers<\/a> of the meeting with the appropriate people.<\/li>\n<li>Once the meeting has built a <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/choose-trusted-servants\/#treasury\">treasury<\/a>, make the appropriate donations.<\/li>\n<li>Keep Intergroup (or ISO) and any other relevant people apprised of any <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/service\/how-to-start-a-meeting\/register-the-meeting\/\">changes<\/a> in the meeting (i.e., location, time, name, officers, etc.).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Congratulations!<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/sca-recovery.org\/WP\/recovery-program\/traditions\/\">Twelve Traditions<\/a> of SCA form the framework for all SCA meetings and our community. Our First Tradition states, &#8220;Personal recovery depends upon SCA unity.&#8221; You are weaving a very important part of that unity by starting a meeting in your community. You are encouraged to read the Twelve Traditions as a means of laying the roots of a meeting and your recovery in healthy soil.<\/p>\n<p>You are taking a very helpful and encouraging step toward your recovery, as well as strengthening the well-being of our program and its outreach services. So, when someone calls us and asks, &#8220;Do you have a meeting in my area?&#8221; we can proudly say, &#8220;YES!&#8221; \u2013 all because of your efforts.
